Fairport State Recreation Area

[Alert] Fairport - CAMPGROUND CLOSURE

The Fairport Campground is closed for the winter and water is shut off. The Campground will reopen on March 15th, 2025, with the water being turned back on at the beginning of May 2025. The Vault Toilets will remain open throughout the winter months.  (Posted 11/15/2024)

[Alert] Fairport - Docks

Park Staff have removed both docks for the winter. The docks will be put back in sometime in the Spring of 2025. (Posted 12/4/24)

About the Park

Fairport State Recreation Area near Muscatine offers majestic views of the Mississippi River. The campground is a small but popular destination for visitors who enjoy easy access to fishing and boating.

Plan Your Visit

  • Camp at one of Fairport’s electric campsites. Campers will enjoy river views from their campsites, along with modern amenities such as electrical hook-ups and modern restrooms and showers. Advanced campsite reservations can be made online through the online reservation system for Fairport State Recreation Area.
  • Boat and fish using Fairport’s access to the Mississippi. Two boat ramps provide boating access, with courtesy docks at each ramp. The Mississippi is a popular fishing destination for walleye, catfish and numerous other fish species.
  • View wildlife at Fairport near the river. Large towboats, recreational boaters, river wildlife and the majesty of the river can be seen from the recreation area.
