Hawkeye Wildlife Shooting Range

Located at 2200 Amana Road NW, Swisher, IA, 52338, the Hawkeye Wildlife Area shooting range has benches and berms at 30, 50, and 100 yards. Steel targets may be brought to the range but should not be located closer than 100 yards for rifle targets and 10 yards for handgun targets. Please bring your own targets and target stands, pick up spent rounds and shells, and carry out your trash.

A second range is located further west at 2065 Amana Rd NW, Swisher, IA, 52338. This range provides a shotgun and an archery range. The archery range is complete with a tower and targets at 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 yards. Targets are for arrows with field points only; no broadheads are allowed on targets. At this range, there are also 12 stations to shoot clay targets. Visitors must bring their own throwers and clay targets. Please pick up any spent shotgun hulls and boxes and carry them with you.

F20 (Amana Road NW) Bridge to close Feb 19 - A bridge replacement project over Swisher Creek in Johnson County, will close a portion of Amana Road NW (County Road F20) from Cou Falls Road NW to about 900 feet west of Cou Falls Road NW through August 2024, weather permitting.
