Fairport State Recreation Area

Fairport State Recreation Area near Muscatine offers majestic views of the Mississippi River. The campground is a small but popular destination for visitors who enjoy easy access to fishing and boating.


PLAN YOUR VISIT

Camp at one of Fairport’s electric campsites. Campers will enjoy river views from their campsites, along with modern amenities such as electrical hook-ups and modern restrooms and showers. Advanced campsite reservations can be made online through the online reservation system for Fairport State Recreation Area.

Boat and fish using Fairport’s access to the Mississippi. Two boat ramps provide boating access, with courtesy docks at each ramp. The Mississippi is a popular fishing destination for walleye, catfish and numerous other fish species.

View wildlife at Fairport near the river. Large towboats, recreational boaters, river wildlife and the majesty of the river can be seen from the recreation area.

ATTENTION:  Due to the Mississippi water rising close to flood levels, the east and west docks have been removed until further notice.   (Posted 6/26/24)

POTENTIAL FLOODING:  The Fairport Campground is open, but due to the forecasted flooding of the Mississippi River, campsites will be closed on an as needed basis.  If a reservation is affected by potential flood waters, you will be contacted with options.  Contact the Park Office at 563-263-4337, with any questions.  (Posted 6/24/24)

Fairport State Recreation Area Shower Building Closure

The shower building at Fairport State Recreation Area will be closed from June 24th until June 30th. New flooring is being installed in the shower building. Please feel free to reach out to the park office (563) 263-4337 with any questions or concerns.Thank you -Park staff (Posted: 05/31/2024)

The Fairport Campground is open, but due to damage to the electrical boxes from the 2023 flood waters of the Mississippi River, sites 37 to 39 have been temporarily closed.  They will reopen as soon as we can have the electrical box repaired or replaced.  For more information please call the Park Office at 563-263-4337.  (Updated 5/21/2024)
