Lake Wapello State Park

Named after the famous Native American Chief Wapello, Lake Wapello State Park boasts a variety of outdoor opportunities. More than 1,000 acres of beautiful wooded hillsides offer scenic picnic areas, and the lake provides a relaxing atmosphere for activities such as canoeing, kayaking and fishing. The Lake Wapello beach house was built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corp and its pueblo style architecture makes it one of the most unique buildings in the state park system.
