Counties interested in using the Master Matrix to evaluate construction permit applications for confinement (totally roofed) animal feeding operations must pass and submit a construction evaluation resolution each year. Submit the resolution to DNR between Jan. 1 and 31 for the Master Matrix year that starts in February 2019.

It may be time to reconsider biosecurity measures after the recent spread of African Swine Fever in China. Iowa State University is offering workshops for producers, their employees, veterinarians and others who may enter pork production facilities. The two-hour workshop covers case studies, risk management and help for producers in determining their highest priorities.

GREENE COUNTY, Iowa -- On November 3, 2018, a DNR Conservation Officer received a call from a man who came upon a scene of a woman who had hit a deer on N Ave. between 185th and 190th streets in Greene County. The man waited for a sheriff’s deputy to arrive. Once the deputy arrived, the man asked the deputy about a salvage tag. Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Kirk Hammer declined to issue him a salvage tag.

TAYLOR COUNTY, Iowa - On Wednesday, November 7, Iowa DNR Conservation Officers Andrea Bevington and Adam Arnold were checking hunters in deer camps in Taylor County when they observed one group of hunters with an untagged deer.  After interviewing the hunters, the conservation officers uncovered numerous hunting violations including falsifying residency and hunting with Missouri deer licenses in Iowa.

ANKENY—A storage tank overflowed at the Air Gas plant on SE Creekview Drive in Ankeny over the weekend, sending about 1,000 gallons of lime slurry into a tributary of Four Mile Creek.
