Trout coming to North Liberty March 30

North Liberty – A family-friendly trout fishing event will be held at Liberty Centre Pond, 820 West Cherry Street, on Saturday, March 30, at 11 a.m. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will stock 500 rainbow and 500 brook trout in the pond.

DES MOINES – The DNR Air Quality Bureau has the following draft permits up for review. The permits help protect Iowans’ health and the air where we live. DNR’s permitting staff review the applications to ensure facilities comply with state and federal air quality standards. The public has the right and is encouraged to comment on draft permits.

SOUTHWEST IOWA – This morning the City of Glenwood's water treatment plant was inundated by the floodwaters, forcing the plant to be shut down and city officials have issued a boil water advisory.

A healthy pond needs aquatic plants, but too many plants can limit the pond’s use and cause imbalances in the fish population. If you had problems using your pond last year, you could have similar problems this year.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is postponing trout stockings scheduled for Friday, March 22 at Wilson Lake in Fort Madison, and at the Discovery Park Pond in Muscatine, due to heavy ice cover preventing fisheries staff from stocking trout.

Davenport – The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will relax the fishing regulations at Lake of the Hills, Railroad Lake, Lambach Lake and Bluegrass Lake at West Lake Park starting April 1st to allow anglers to more freely harvest fish before the lakes’ water levels are lowered this summer.
