New Training Workshop Focuses on Bottom Line for Industrial Stormwater

Industrial and commercial facilities with "stormwater discharge associated with industrial activity" are required to obtain NPDES permits, known as General Permits #1 and #3.  A new training opportunity has been developed to help those facilities understand their permitting requirements, develop pollution prevention plans, and implement best management practices with the goal of staying in compliance.

Well Construction and Well Service Discharges General Permit 6 (GP6) will expire on February 28, 2020. Iowa DNR proposes to initiate rulemaking to renew the NPDES permit for a third 5 year term. The proposed GP6 is nearly identical to the current general permit except for some clarifications.

DES MOINES – Consideration of a referral of Sioux City by the Iowa Environmental Protection Commission scheduled for May 17th will be postponed to the commission’s June 21st meeting as requested by the city.
