DNR Park Ranger Christopher (C.J.) Hughes was given a Special Recognition Award by the Iowa Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Association for his education efforts. He received the award at the association’s annual meeting in Williamsburg on Jan. 21.

Coming in March, DNR will have an option for livestock and poultry farmers to submit their annual Manure Management Plan (MMP) updates and pay compliance fees online. The electronic (eMMP) option provides a simplified process for producers, their consultants, counties and the DNR.

DES MOINES -- A new Waste Characterization Study completed by the Iowa DNR has determined the recovery rate for containers covered under the bottle deposit law is 71 percent, down from 86 percent in 2007. The decrease in the recovery rate is consistent with other states that also have a bottle bill.
