Anglers who purchased the trout permit for the 2016 season may receive a postcard soon encouraging them to participate in the 2016 Trout Angler Survey. As of October 1, 2016, nearly 45,000 resident and non-resident anglers purchased the trout permit, and 10,000 of these purchasers were selected to participate in the trout survey.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is asking trout anglers to report their trout fishing preferences and experiences, including where they fish and how often. Responses to the survey will help guide decisions to provide opportunities for anglers to experience the thrill of trout fishing in Iowa.
An online version of the Trout Angler Survey is available immediately, with anglers encouraged to use this option prior to November 4. More than 2,000 trout anglers used the online option when the trout survey was last conducted in 2011. Individuals who do not have internet access needed to complete the online survey will receive a paper copy in mid-November.
