ALLERTON- The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is relaxing fishing regulations at Bob White Lake, in Wayne County, until 10:00 p.m. September 21, to allow anglers to harvest fish before the lake is drained as part of a renovation project.
Anglers with a valid fishing license will be allowed to harvest any size or number of largemouth bass, channel catfish, and all other fish species from Bob White Lake. Any number of fishing poles or jugs will be allowed. Anglers must remain in sight of these lines at all times, and follow all other fishing regulations and area rules. Trot lines will be allowed (name and address must be attached), however lines may not be set across entire water body.
Nets, dynamite, poison, electric shocking devices, or any stupefying substances will not be allowed. It is illegal to sell fish or stock captured fish into public waters.
On September 22, the lake will be treated with Prentox® PrenfishTM, a plant-based fish toxicant commonly known as Rotenone. The lake will be closed to fishing and other water-based activities during the renovation project. The renovation is expected to be completed by September 28.
After renovation, the lake will be restocked with bass, bluegill, and channel catfish.
