ARMSTRONG – A power outage caused a pump to fail in the city of Armstrong in Emmet County early Thursday morning.
The main lift station pump at the municipal lagoon was damaged at 3 a.m., releasing about 50,000 gallons of untreated wastewater to the East Fork of the Des Moines River.
The city was able to stop the discharge at about 10:30 a.m.
The DNR will continue to monitor the situation.
