CLINTON – Storm damage in the Royal Pines Village mobile home park on Highway 30 west of Clinton led to evacuation of the park Tuesday night.
Safety concerns due to gas leaks from storm-damaged trailers caused park officials to evacuate mobile homes and shut off electricity. Without electricity, wastewater pumps shut down causing an unknown amount of wastewater to flow to a ditch south of the park.
The discharge is very dilute since no one is in the park, but wastewater could reach Rock Creek about one mile away. The DNR encourages people to keep children and pets away from the unnamed tributary leading to Rock Creek.
The DNR does not expect to take any enforcement action.
