SHEFFIELD – A boil advisory issued Sept. 8 for the city of Sheffield in Franklin County was lifted Saturday when laboratory tests showed the water is safe to drink.
The precautionary boil advisory was issued after routine maintenance on the water tower last week. Cleaning and pressure drops potentially allow bacteria and other substances to enter the water.
Bacteria in the water may pose greater health risks for infants, young children, some of the elderly and people with compromised immune systems.
