DNR Enforcement Actions

DES MOINES – DNR staff work with individuals, businesses and communities to help them protect our natural resources by complying with state and federal laws. This approach is very effective. In the few cases where compliance cannot be achieved, the DNR issues enforcement actions. The following list summarizes recent enforcement actions. Consent Orders 
A consent order is issued as an alternative to issuing an administrative order. A consent order indicates that the DNR has voluntarily entered into a legally enforceable agreement with the other party.

Jones County
Casey’s General Stores

Timely submit all required monthly operating reports; conduct all required testing of the finished drinking water and submit testing documentation; provide public notice of the violations for at least 30 days; employ or retain a certified drinking water operator to manage the system; and pay a $6,000 administrative penalty.

Story County
Interstate Land Properties, LLC

Comply with all conditions of it National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit, including the stormwater pollution prevention plan; cease all illegal discharges to a water of the state; and pay a $6,500 administrative penalty.
