To aid stakeholders in making comments, the DNR has developed a “Sample” Collection of Air Permits (CAP) document to provide additional clarification to applicants of what to expect in the format and language of the CAP. The information presented in the sample represents the possible permitting of a group of emission points at a facility that has a limit over several surface coating operations.
Based on comments and questions received from industry, DNR, and other stakeholders during the comment period, this sample CAP was created. The CAP utilizes example coating operations to provide additional clarification to the overall layout of the document.
The CAP document titled “Surface Coating CAP Permits” is located at https://www.iowadnr.gov/Environmental-Protection/Air-Quality/Construction-Permits/Construction-Permitting-Materials under the general guidance tab and is available for review.
Based on requests from stakeholders an additional draft of the CAP permit, a CAP example and a draft procedures will be placed on comment by the end of January. Please contact Gary Smith, Construction Permit Senior Engineer at (515) 725-9563 or gary.smith@dnr.iowa.gov with any questions or comments.
