DNR enforcement actions

DES MOINES – DNR staff work with individuals, businesses and communities to help them protect our natural resources by complying with state and federal laws. This approach is very effective. In the few cases where compliance cannot be achieved, the DNR issues enforcement actions. The following list summarizes recent enforcement actions. Consent Orders A consent order is issued as an alternative to issuing an administrative order. A consent order indicates that the DNR has voluntarily entered into a legally enforceable agreement with the other party.

Cerro Gordo and Floyd Counties
Denver Larson, dba Larson Salvage
Cease improper handling and storage of appliances; cease and prevent illegal open burning; and pay a $2,500 administrative penalty.

Dallas County
Charles Manning
Cease illegal disposal of solid waste and illegal open burning of solid waste; properly reuse, recycle or dispose of all solid waste in compliance with law; within 60 days remove and properly dispose of all solid waste on site, including ash from burning; and pay a $5,350 administrative penalty.

Emmet County
City of Armstrong
Submit a wastewater treatment facility plan to the Department for approval no later than December 2021; submit final plans and specifications to the Department for approval no later than April 2022; complete construction of the wastewater treatment facility by November 2023; and pay a $2,000 administrative penalty.

Wayne County
Double A Pork, Inc.
Pay a $2,000 administrative penalty.
