Lake Darling State Park will be the site of the premier showing of “Darling is Back!: The Restoration of Lake Darling,” Dec. 12 and 13, at 3 p.m. and lasts about two hours.
The documentary is a co-production of Marvo Entertainment and Iowa Public Television and began as an informal meeting between the Friends of Lake Darling and the film’s producer, Sam Koltinsky.
In the words of Koltinsky, “the sharing and exchanging of history, artifacts and passions, led to the unfolding of a new captivating story.”
“Our meeting also provided a splendid opportunity to learn more about the man with whom I have had the honor of researching, documenting, and sharing his life --"Ding" Darling,” adds Koltinsky.
The documentary took more than two years to complete and features some rare footage from 1950, when "Ding" Darling attended the Lake Darling State Park opening.
The 30-minute film and reception will be held in the Lake Darling State Park lodge at 111 Lake Darling Road, Brighton. Producer Sam Koltinsky will be on hand to answer questions, share additional Darling treasures and introduce friends and colleagues associated with the legacy project.
Those planning to attend the program are asked to preregister online for the day they plan to attend. Please visit www.friendsoflakedarling.com and follow the link to Eventbrite.
The program is hosted by the Friends of Lake Darling, Brighton and Washington Chambers of Commerce, Marvo Entertainment Group LLC and Iowa Public Television.
