For those who use air construction permit templates, beginning Dec. 4 there’s a new, convenient process using Iowa EASY Air, the Iowa DNR’s new electronic air permit application system.
Using the EASY Air system, permit applicants can select and certify the template requirements and limitations specific to their facility. When the template permit is issued, it will contain only the operating requirements and limitations specific to that permitted facility.
The following types of air construction permit templates are available for qualifying facilities. Facilities must meet all applicable operating requirements and limitations in the respective templates:
- Aggregate Processing Plant,
- Bulk Gasoline Plant,
- Concrete Batch Plant,
- Group 2 Grain Elevator, and
- Hot Mix Asphalt Plant.
Currently, each template application contains all requirements applicable to all qualifying facilities, and the application itself becomes the final permit after Iowa DNR’s review and approval. The new process eliminates the unneeded information which does not relate to the applicant’s facility.
Iowa DNR has also made a few minor changes to the paper template applications. However, each paper application will be processed through EASY Air so the final permits will contain only specific requirements and limitations for each permitted facility.
