DES MOINES – DNR staff work with individuals, businesses and communities to help them protect our natural resources by complying with state and federal laws. This approach is very effective. In the few cases where compliance cannot be achieved, the DNR issues enforcement actions. The following list summarizes recent enforcement actions. Consent Orders A consent order is issued as an alternative to issuing an administrative order. A consent order indicates that the DNR has voluntarily entered into a legally enforceable agreement with the other party.
Emmet County
Farmers Union Industries, LLC d/b/a Central Bi-Products and Redwood Farms Meat Processors
Cease illegal discharges; obtain professional engineer to identify and eliminate the source of the discharge; and pay an administrative penalty in the amount of $7,000.
Lyon County

Operate and maintain all operation structures in compliance with applicable permits, rules, and regulations; regrade open lot pens; remove all blockages from discharge pipes to the SOFEB; Remove all solids from basins on annual basis; and pay an administrative penalty in the amount of $6,000.
