The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is sponsoring workshops for K –12 educators on Iowa’s outdoors this summer.
Workshops are scheduled for 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on June 12 and 13 at the Fossil and Prairie Center in Rockford; June 14 and 15 at the Marr Park Conservation Center in Ainsworth; July 25 and 26 at Thomas Jefferson Elementary in Newton; and August 1 and 2 at Arrowhead Park in Neola.
Educators will learn how outdoor projects, exploration, and field investigations provide opportunities for project-based learning that addresses Iowa Core Science Standards.
Participants will be introduced to a variety of nationally developed resources that support authentic learning as well as Project WILD and Aquatic WILD. Trainers will work with educators to incorporate activities from these resources into inquiry-based learning units.
