ACKLEY, Iowa - The Stockdale Gun Club, near Ackley, hosted 77 athletes from seven teams for the Iowa State Collegiate Trap Championship on May 1.
Jessica Gunderson, from Iowa Central Squad 2, was the top scoring female shooter for the second year in a row. Gunderson scored 192 out of 200.
Seth Heinold, from Iowa Central Squad 1, was the top scoring male shooter, improving from a 14th place finish in 2016. Heinold scored 197 out of 200.
Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) swept the top three squad places. The five members of ICCC Squad 1 scored 964 out of 1,000, followed by ICCC Squad 4 with 936 and ICCC Squad 2 with 924.
The team award includes the top five athletes from that team, regardless of squad. Those results are Iowa Central, first; Southwestern Community College second; and Southeastern Community College third.
This was the first year Indian Hills Community College competed in collegiate trap shooting.
