DES MOINES –Todd Bishop has been hired as the head of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Wildlife Bureau on April 12, replacing Dale Garner who was promoted to the administrator for the Conservation and Recreation Division in February.
“Issues facing Iowa wildlife are complex and far reaching and we continue to uncover new challenges,” Garner said. “We feel fortunate in having someone with Todd’s abilities leading the way.”
Bishop, 51, joined the DNR in 1997 as the Geographic Information System coordinator after spending seven years as a research associate for the Iowa Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit at Iowa State University. He then became the coordinator for special projects in the Wildlife Bureau in 2004, managing wildlife habitat and wetland restoration programs.
