DES MOINES – The Environmental Protection Commission will hold a special conference call meeting Oct. 8 to discuss proposed rules establishing fees for air quality applications and notification.

The authority to collect the proposed fees was approved by the legislature in May in response to a long-term decline in air pollutant emission fees as companies adopted more effective pollution controls. Fees for construction permit applications, operating permit applications and asbestos notifications were developed with input from stakeholders. Large and small Iowa industries, local governments and environmental interests were represented.
The meeting is open to the public, with an opportunity for public comment. Submit requests to speak by email to Jerah.Sheets@dnr.iowa.gov, 502 E. Ninth St., Des Moines, IA 50319 or call 515-313-8909, before 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 8. Please indicate if you will be representing yourself, an association or other group, and your stance of “For, Opposed, or Neutral.”
