The DNR has updated the pre-processed meteorological data for AERMOD, the default background concentrations, and various guidance documents. Projects with approved protocols that include approval to use the old data, and modeling analyses submitted prior to December 4, 2015, will not have to use the new data. Applicants submitting new projects on or after December 4 should begin using the updated data and guidance immediately. The updates are summarized below.

POLK CITY - The Charles “Butch” Olofson shooting range at Big Creek State Park in Polk County will close on December 20 to allow contractors to remove the old structures and install a new registration and classroom facility, add new baffles, and conduct lead reclamation and berm maintenance.

PALO, Iowa – The lake restoration project at the Pleasant Creek Recreation Area scheduled to begin this winter has been postponed to April 2016 due to an unforeseen problem with the main gate valve in the dam requiring it to be replaced before the project can begin.

SIOUX CITY - The southbound Interstate-29 weigh station south of Sioux City was a busy place on the afternoon of November 15. It was the interviewing location for a game check point that identified and interviewed 620 people traveling on the interstate between noon and 5 p.m. that had been hunting, fishing or had a firearm in their vehicle.

The DNR has a new air quality operating (Title V) permit application form – EZ Mod Form. The new EZ Mod Form is an optional alternative to the standard Title V application forms to request a minor Title V permit modification. To reduce submitting duplicate information, this form incorporates data elements from air construction permit applications and final issued air construction permits.
