Governor Reynolds proclaims 150th anniversary of Arbor Day

DES MOINES – Governor Kim Reynolds signed a proclamation declaring the 150th anniversary of Arbor Day on April 29. It is estimated that more than 1 million trees were planted in Nebraska City, Neb., on the first Arbor Day in 1872.

DES MOINES - Earlier this week, Governor Reynolds shared her commitment to volunteerism at her weekly press conference to develop a state employee volunteer policy encouraging workers to give back to communities and causes that benefit our state. This weekend several DNR employees, along with any interested Iowans, have the opportunity to do just that by participating in the DNR’s third annual statewide Volunteer Day on September 28.

DES MOINES — Governor Terry E. Branstad will recognize 22 Iowa organizations, businesses and communities at the Iowa Environmental Excellence awards ceremony Aug 2. The awards are the premier environmental honors in Iowa.

DES MOINES — Forty-three Iowa organizations, businesses and communities were nominated for consideration to receive an Governor’s Iowa Environmental Excellence Award from Gov. Terry E. Branstad and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The awards are Iowa’s premier environmental honors.
