Opportunity to Comment on Proposed New Air Operating Permit Form

The DNR is proposing to implement a new air quality operating (Title V) permit application form – EZ Mod Form. The new EZ Mod Form is an optional alternative to the standard Title V application forms to request a minor Title V permit modification. To reduce submitting duplicate information, this form incorporates data elements from air construction permit applications and final issued air construction permits.

Springbrook State Park to Close for Repairs Sept 8

Springbrook State Park in Guthrie County will shut down beginning Sept. 8 for major road repairs. Repairs will include replacing the bridge coming into the park and the culvert in the campground, and repairing the main road between the spillway and the picnic area. The park will be closed to vehicle traffic until completion, which is scheduled to be May 21, 2016 (weather dependent).

Early in April, eerie, hollow booming reverberates over a field near Kellerton, the last remnant of greater prairie chicken habitat in Iowa. Go to the lek, or breeding ground, to hear the males begin their courtship rituals. Watch as they shrink and expand leathery orange sacs on each side of their necks to make the haunting sounds that hens love.
