GRUVER - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will start lowering the water level at West Swan Lake, near Gruver in Emmet County as part of a restoration project to improve its water quality, eliminate a rough fish population and provide quality habitat for fish and wildlife.

ESTHERVILLE - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has relaxed the fishing regulations at West Swan Lake in Emmet County to allow anglers to more freely harvest fish before the lake is renovated to eliminate an overabundant population of bullhead and common carp, and restore water quality and habitat.

The DNR has updated the pre-processed meteorological data for AERMOD, the default background concentrations, and various guidance documents. Projects with approved protocols that include approval to use the old data, and modeling analyses submitted prior to December 4, 2015, will not have to use the new data. Applicants submitting new projects on or after December 4 should begin using the updated data and guidance immediately. The updates are summarized below.
