Water Summary Update: Iowa Rainfall About Normal for this Time of Year

DES MOINES— The most recent two-week period in Iowa has been slightly warmer than normal, including a five-day stretch of hot and humid weather, but receiving about the average amount of rain. 

The past two weeks began with widespread wet weather, then went through a dry spell before finishing with more widespread rain. The average statewide rainfall has been about 2.1 inches, slightly more than the normal average for this period. Two-week rain totals varied from a 0.09 inches in Fremont County up to 7.02 inches near Atlantic.
