DES MOINES – The Environmental Protection and Natural Resource Commissions will meet Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. to discuss their annual reports.
The joint informational meeting is open to the public and will be in the DNR’s second floor conference room, Water Supply office at the Wallace State Office Building, 502 E. Ninth St., Des Moines. DNR staff will report on the strategic plan, the budget, the Iowa Rivers Plan and the upcoming 30th Anniversary of the DNR.
Following the joint meeting, Environmental Protection commissioners will move to the Wallace Building Auditorium for their 1 p.m. business meeting, while the Natural Resource Commission will meet in the second floor conference room.
The regular meetings are open to the public. Time for public comments follows the monthly reports at the Environmental Protection meeting. People may also submit written comments to the commission by mail or email to Jerah Sheets, Jerah.Sheets@dnr.iowa.gov, in advance of the meeting.
At 2 p.m., EPC commissioners will rule on a proposed referral to the Attorney General’s office of Jeremy Vander Vegt and Boerderij De Veldhoek, LLC, for violations related to manure management.
Preceding both meetings, all commissioners will meet and greet legislators at 7:30 a.m. in the State Capitol Building’s dining area. Also, at 6 p.m., Jan. 19, some of the commissioners will meet for a joint dinner at the Governor’s Lodge, Quality Inn, 929 Third St., Des Moines.
