DES MOINES -- The DNR is investigating a fish kill along a two-mile stretch of lower Walnut Creek after a citizen reported seeing dead fish yesterday. DNR field staff were onsite yesterday and continue to investigate.
The portion of Walnut Creek affected was roughly a third of a mile below I-235 to the Raccoon River along 63rd Street and the popular Walnut Creek Bike Trail.
The fish kill is not ongoing, but dead fish are still evident today.
Due to the popularity of the trail system, many reports were received by concerned citizens. The DNR field office staff and fisheries staff continue to investigate.
