Air Quality permits under review

DES MOINES – The DNR Air Quality Bureau has the following draft permits up for review. The permits help protect Iowans’ health and the air where we live. DNR’s permitting staff review the applications to ensure facilities comply with state and federal air quality standards. The public has the right and is encouraged to comment on draft permits. DNR considers public comments before finalizing the permits. Submit comments in writing to the assigned permit writer before 4:30 p.m. on the last day of the public comment period. 

Construction Permits
DNR engineers review and issue construction permits to facilities before they build new or modified sources of air pollution. The public may review the following air quality construction permits available online at www.iowadnr.gov/airpermitsearch.

Linn County
Archer Daniels Midland Company – 1425 60th Ave. S.W., Cedar Rapids.
Project No. 18-477, Modification of the fermentation, distillation and dehydration permit to increase the PM10 and SO2 “other” hourly emission limits to align with the BACT emission limits, while still maintaining the NAAQS. Public comment period ends June 28.

Scott County 
Linwood Mining & Minerals Corporation – 401 E. Front St., Davenport. 
Project No. 19-130, The proposed permitting action is for the modification of existing air construction permits for Kiln #1, #2 Rockbox and Conveyor (EP LP-38), Solid Fuel Crusher & Crusher Burner EP LP-39), and #4 Lime Truck Loadout System (LP-8) to update stack characteristics based on a recent stack test.  The project includes issuance of a new permit for four Ingredients Bins (EP CC-17) to include potential PM10 emission limits, control measures and enforceable operating limits. The public comment period ends June 26.
