POLK CITY – The Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ Hunting and Conservation Camp, designed to introduce a variety of outdoor skills to young men ages 12-15, is still accepting registrations.
The popular day camp is scheduled for July 25-27 at the Butch Olofson Range, at Big Creek State Park, northwest of Polk City.
Participants will experience outdoor skills like shooting bb guns, shotguns, rifles, archery and muzzleloaders, trapping, dog training, species-specific hunting tactics, gun care/cleaning, game calling and conservation, and will have the opportunity to earn their hunter education certification. Lunch will be provided each day along with snacks and drinks.

Participation is required for all three days. This is a day camp only. No overnight accommodations will be provided. Participants can be dropped off starting at 7:30 am daily and picked up until 5:30 pm daily.
July 18-20 camp canceled due to flooding
WEBB, Iowa - The Hunting and Conservation Camp scheduled July 18-20 in Webb has been canceled due to flooding. Floodwaters are not expected to recede until after the camp.
