DENISON – The city of Denison reported about 5,000 gallons of wastewater discharged from a manhole near 20th Street and the Denison Elementary School on Saturday.
City officials learned of the discharge about 3 p.m. and responded quickly to unplug a sewer line, vacuum up pooled material and disinfect the area around the manhole.
During a follow up inspection Monday, DNR staff noted the city cleaned the area adequately.
The DNR will consider enforcement action, if appropriate.
