Officers seeking information to find person responsible for shooting Winneshiek County bald eagle

Law enforcement officials in Winneshiek County are looking for the party responsible for killing a bald eagle.

The dead eagle was recovered March 3 from a road ditch four miles north of the Turkey Valley Community School in southwest Winneshiek County.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact State Conservation Officer Brian Roffman at 563-380-0496.

Roffman said people can use the Turn in Poachers website at www.iowadnr.gov/tip or by calling the hotline at 1-800-532-2020. Information can be left anonymous.

Bald eagles are a state and federally protected species.
