EPC to hold joint meeting with NRC in January

DES MOINES – The Environmental Protection Commission will meet jointly with the Natural Resources Commission Jan. 18 in Des Moines before holding a separate business meeting. 

The joint meeting begins at 10 a.m. at the Wallace State Office Building, 502 E. Ninth St. The meeting will take place in the DNR Water Supply conference room on the second floor.

The two commissions will hear about the DNR budget, the shallow lakes management plan, DNR process improvements, and more.

At 1 p.m., the EPC will hold its business meeting in the Wallace Building auditorium, where it will discuss air quality rules, a lake monitoring contract and the EPC annual report.

The meetings are open to the public. Public comment will begin shortly after the start of the 1 p.m. EPC meeting. People may also submit written comments to the commission by mail or email to Jerah Sheets, Jerah.Sheets@dnr.iowa.gov, before the meeting.

The next Environmental Protection Commission meeting is scheduled for Feb. 21.
